Not Without Hope: Miles Teller To Star In Film Adaptation Of Nick Schuyler and Jeré Longman Novel, Russell Wilson And Ciara To Executive Produce

The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Miles Teller is set to star in the film adaptation of best-selling novel Not Without Hope by Nick Schuyler and Jeré Longman, with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and Grammy-Award singer/songwriter Ciara executive producing their production company Why Not You.

The novel tells the story of a real-life boating tragedy, and the film will focus on Nick Schulyer, who along with best friend Will Bleakley and NFL players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith, who in 2009 set off from Clearwater, Florida for a day trip to their favourite fishing spot seventy miles out in the Gulf of Mexico. However, as a severe storm heads their way, a trapped anchor and a tragic mistake in trying to free it caused the boat to capsize, throwing the four violently into the freezing water. With the U.S Coast Guard air and sea recuse mission beaten back by the ferocity of the storm, the group had to fight to survive in the ultimate test of teamwork and endurance.

Highland Film Group CEO Arianne Fraser released a statement saying:

We are very excited to help bring this inspiring true story to the big screen. In today’s world of uncertainty, we definitely need feature films that are able to instill hope, courage and strength.

The screenplay is being adapted by E. Nicholas Mariani, with Rupert Wainwright set to direct. Miles Teller will be marking his first producing credit with this project under his Lime Tree Productions banner, alongside Michael Jefferson of Volition Media Partners, Rick French of Prix Productions, Colin Bates of Lucidity Entertainment, Wainwright’s Adore Creative, Willie Kutner and Hitesh Patel of Voyager Entertainment Group.
