Deadline is exclusively reporting that Constance Wu and Sam Heughan will join already cast Freida Pinto, Sope Dirisu and Oliver Jackson-Cohen for the film adaptation of Suzanne Allain’s novel Mr Malcolm’s List.
The film will focus on Mr Malcolm, London’s most eligible bachelor. When Julia is jilted by him after she failed meet one of the items on his list of requirements for a bride, she enlists her friend Selina to help her take revenge.
Sope Dirisu (whose credits include Gangs of London and Humans) will be playing the role of Mr Malcolm, while Constance Wu (whose credits include Hustlers and Fresh Off The Boat) will be playing the role of Julia, and Freida Pinto (whose credits include Guerrilla and The Path) will be playing the role of Selina.
The film is being directed by Emma Holly Jones, who also helmed the short film adaptation of Suzanne Allain’s novel, which also starred Sope Dirisu, Freida Pinto and Oliver Jackson-Cohen, as well as Gemma Chan, Divian Ladwa and Sianad Gregory.
Emma Holly Jones released a statement saying:
I am so incredibly excited and honoured to have Constance and Sam join this cast. Their talents know no bounds and I cannot wait to show the world our take on a Regency era romantic comedy.
Untitled Entertainment’s Laura Rister, Rebelle Media’s Laura Lewis, Blinder Films’ Katie Holly and Emma Holly Jones will be serving as producers, while Constance Wu, Freida Pinto and Refinery29 will serve as executive producers.
WestEnd Films will be handling international sales at the upcoming Cannes virtual market, while the producers will be handling U.S sales.
