Netflix have announced through the Lucifer account on Twitter that the DC drama series has been renewed for a sixth and final season on the streaming service.
The series (based on the comic book characters created by Neil Gaiman for DC’s Vertigo Imprint, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for Vertigo) focuses on Lucifer Morningstar aka the Devil, who is unhappy and bored as the Lord of Hell. He resigns the throne and abandons his kingdom for Los Angeles, where he ends up owning a nightclub called Lux. Once he’s involved in a murder case with Detective Chloe Decker, he is subsequently invited to be a consultant for the LAPD.
Originally the fifth season was being labelled as the last season, which Netflix are aware of by saying in the tweet that this sixth season will be the ‘FINAL final’ one. The first half of episodes of the fifth season will become available on Netflix from the 21st August 2020, with the second pack release to be announced probably at the end of the year period.
Lucifer stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, D.B Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Scarlett Estevez, Aimee Garcia and Rachel Harris.
