Samuel Goldwyn Films have released the official trailer for the upcoming period drama Waiting For The Barbarians.
The official synopsis for the film is as follows:
The Magistrate of an isolated frontier settlement on the border of an unnamed empire looks forward to an easy retirement until the arrival of Colonel Joll, whose task it is to report on the activities of the ‘barbarians’ and on the security situation on the border. Joll conducts a series of ruthless interrogations, which leads the Magistrate to question his loyalty to the empire.
The film is an adaptation of J. M. Coetzee’s novel of the same name and marks the English-language directorial debut of Ciro Guerra, who previous directorial films include 2015’s Embrace of the Serpent and 2018’s Birds of Passage. The film stars Johnny Depp, Mark Rylance, Robert Pattinson, Gana Bayarsaikhan, Greta Scacchi, David Dencik, Sam Reid, Harry Melling and Bill Milner.
Waiting For The Barbarians will be available On Demand on the 7th August 2020.
