Variety is exclusively reporting that Christina Ricci, Tom Hopper and David Dastmalchian have signed up to star in indie action thriller Can’t Stop The Dawn.
The story follows a terminally ill single mother (Christina Ricci) whose recruited by a mysterious agent (Tom Hopper) to assassinate a ruthless leader (David Dastmalchian) of a human trafficking ring for the promise of a better future for her son.
The screenplay is written by Tony Armer, based on an original concept by Dale Pople, with Marianna Palka attached to direct. Michael E. Brown, Ramfis Myrthil and Jory Weitz will serve as producers on the project, with Santosh Govindaraju and Dan Reardon set to serve as executive producers.
Marianna Palka released a statement saying:
I am so passionate about ‘Can’t Stop the Dawn.’ The story grips me, life is unpredictable and this film hauls this truth out and examines it in a way no film ever has before. I’m excited to be making an intersectionally feminist action movie that is truly female gazed in its vision.
AMBDI Distribution is handling global sales at the Cannes virtual market, with principal photography for the project is scheduled to commence later in the year in New Orleans.
