The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Tami Stronach, Sean Astin, Rhea Perlman, Christopher Lloyd and Michael Emerson are set to star in children’s fantasy film Man & Witch.
The film is being described by producers as a “heartwarming homage to the lo-fi fantasy films of the 80s,” and a “comic adventure that both fulfils and subverts the expectations of what a fantasy universe can be.
Tami Stronach (whose credits include The NeverEnding Story and Ultra Low) will be playing a reclusive, yet powerful and mysterious witch who loses her heart to a hapless goatherd when he hires her to break a curse by an evil wizard. The Jim Henson Creature Shop have been brought in to create the puppets for the film that include talking sheep, goose and a dog, which be a mixture of real animals and puppets, in oder to add to the lo-fi 80s theme.
The film will be directed by Rob Margolies, with the script written by Tami Stronach’s husband Greg Steinbruner, with further casting to be announced as production is expected to commence in late autumn this year in the New York tri-state area.
