Variety is exclusively reporting that Jude Law is in negotiations to play the role of Captain Hook in Disney’s live-adaptation of Peter Pan titled Peter Pan & Wendy.
Disney previously adapted J.M Barrie’s novel about Peter Pan with the 1953 animated classic, still considered to be the most successful adaptation of the novel about the boy who wouldn’t age and the children whom he whisks away to the magical world of Neverland. There have been other studio versions, such as Steve Spielberg’s Hook released in 1991, P.J Hogan’s Peter Pan released in 2003 and Joe Wright’s Pan released in 2015.
If he agrees to sign up to play the role, Law will follow in the footsteps of Dustin Hoffman, Jason Isaacs and Garrett Hedlund in playing the iconic pirate antagonist. The film has David Lowery attached to direct the project, as well as co-write the script with Toby Halbrooks, and Jim Whitaker on board to serve as producer.
The live-action adaptation is being aimed for a cinematic release rather than premiere on Disney+.
