The Trial Of The Chicago 7: Netflix Set Aaron Sorkin Film For October Release, First Look Images Released Online

Netflix have released some first look images for Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming drama film The Trial of the Chicago 7, whilst also announcing that the film will be released on the streaming service on the 16th October 2020.


The Trial of the Chicago 7 focuses on a group of seven activists who were charged by the federal government with conspiracy, inciting to riot and other charges stemming from anti-Vietnam War protests that broke out during the 1968 Democratic National Convention. Intended as peaceful protests, they instead devolved into a violent clash with police and the National Guard. The organisers of the protest included Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden and Bobby Seale, and their trial was one of the most notorious in history.

Cross Creek Pictures had produced and financed the film, which was originally planned to for cinematic release on the 16th October 2020 (limited release 25th September 2020) via Paramount Pictures. The film is produced by Marc Platt, Stuart Besser, Matt Jackson and Tyler Thompson, with Laurie MacDonald, Walter Parkes, Marc Butan, Anthony Katagas, James Rodenhouse, Nia Vazirani, Kristie Macosko Krieger, Maurice Fadida and Shivani Rawat serving as executive producers.


The Trial of the Chicago 7 stars Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jeremy Strong, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Alex Sharp, Frank Langella, Mark Rylance, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Michael Keaton, William Hurt, J.C MacKenzie, Thomas Middleditch, Noah Robbins, Daniel Flaherty, Ben Shenkman, Max Adler and Wayne Duvall.
