During The Boys panel at Comic-Con@Home, it was announced that Amazon have renewed the superhero satire series for a third season, whilst also releasing a new clip for the upcoming second online online.
The synopsis for the second season is as follows:
The new season will find The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie, Mother’s Milk, Frenchie and Kimiko try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront, a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes centre stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalise on the nation’s paranoia.
It was also revealed during the panel that Aisha Tyler will host and executive produce The Boys aftershow Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys, which will feature members of the cast, creative team and other special guests, debuting on the 28th August 2020 with a special look back on season one, then continue on the 4th September when the first few episodes of season two are released. I wonder now with this season 3 renewal, will showrunner Eric Kripke have worked out the details to get Jeffrey Dean Morgan on board for a guest/recurring role?
The main cast of the second season includes Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Aya Cash, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford and Nathan Mitchell.
Guest stars for the upcoming season include Patton Oswalt, Claudia Doumit, Goran Visnijc, Malcolm Barrett, Colby Minifie, Shantel VanSanten, Cameron Crovetti, PJ Byrne, Laila Robbins and Giancarlo Esposito.
The second season of The Boys will premiere on Amazon Prime on the 4th September 2020.
