At the end of the New Mutants panel at Comic-Con@Home, they released the opening scene of the upcoming Marvel film, which was followed by a new trailer.
The official synopsis for the film is as follows:
Twentieth Century Studios in association with Marvel Entertainment presents The New Mutants, an original horror thriller set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive.
The panel itself was good enough, pre-recorded of course, so opening with a promo saying that the film will be released in cinemas on the 28th August 2020, which seems very much a stretch now considering so many films are being pulled by studios now for next month, so expect to hear something very soon on that front. At the end of the panel they announced that they’d be running a sweepstakes competition on twitter for fans to enter a chance to win an invitation to an advanced screening of the film.
The New Mutants is directed by Josh Boone and stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zaga, Blu Hunt and Alice Braga.
