Vertical Entertainment have released the official trailer for the upcoming period drama The 24th, based on the true events of the Houston Riot of 1917.
Set in the early months of World War I, the film recounts how one hundred and fifty-six soldiers of the all-black 24th Infantry Regiment rioted after clashing with the Houston Police Department. Four soldiers and sixteen civilians were killed. The soldiers were court-martialled on mutiny charges; nineteen were executed, forty-one were given life sentences.
Directed by Kevin Willmott, the film stars Trai Byers, Aja Naomi King, Bashir Salahuddin, Mo McRae, Tosin Morohunfola, Mykelti Williamson, Thomas Haden Church and Christopher W. Norris.
The 24th will become available On Demand on the 21st August 2020.
