Planes, Trains And Automobiles: Paramount Developing Remake, Will Smith And Kevin Hart Set To Star

Deadline is exclusively reporting that Paramount Pictures are developing a remake of the John Hughes 1987 comedy Planes, Trains and Automobiles, with Will Smith and Kevin Hart set to star.

In the original film, we follow Neal Page, a marketing executive in a rush to reach the airport to travel home to Chicago for Thanksgiving. He meets a talkative shower curtain salesman named Del Griffith at the airport who had taken his cab originally and now they seat side by side on the flight to Chicago. Due to the bad weather however the airport shuts down and they are forced to land in Wichita, Kansas. From here the men decide to partner up and travel together in order to get home to Chicago in time for Thanksgiving. The original starred Steve Martin and John Candy.

The remake is being written by Aeysha Carr, while Hartbeat Productions and Westbrook Studios will produce the project. Will Smith and Kevin Hart will produce the project with Westbrook Studios Co-President and Head of Motion Pictures Jon Mone and Hartbeat’s President of Film and Television Bryan Smiley.
