Media outlets are reporting that Apple have renewed sports comedy series Ted Lasso for a second season, which just premiered on Apple TV+ last weekend.
The series focuses on Ted Lasso, a small-time college football coach from Kansas who is hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, AFC Richmond, despite having no experience coaching soccer.
The early renewal comes after the series premiered its first three episodes on the streaming service last weekend, ranking as the top program on Apple TV+ in countries including the U.S, UK, Australia, Germany, Mexico, France and Canada.
The sports comedy series is created by Bill Lawrence (Scrubs) and Jason Sudeikis, with the character of Ted Lasso originating from a series of short promos used to promote NBC Sports’ coverage of the Premier League in the U.S.
Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis, Stephen Manas, Colin Blyth, Brendan Hunt, Hannah Waddingham, Bronson Webb, Lampros Kalfuntzos, Phil Dunster, Brett Goldstein, Bradley Wj Miller, Jade Mitchell, Juno Temple, Jeremy Swift and Nick Mohammed.
