TVLine is reporting that CBS All Access have set the premiere date of the limited series adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand for the 17th December 2020.
The Stand is an apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by a plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the one-hundred-and-eight-year-old Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors, including Stuart Redman and their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers….the Dark man aka Randall Flagg.
The novel is adapted by Josh Boone and Ben Cavell, with Boone directing the first and last episodes, and Cavell serving as showrunner. Both serve as executive producers alongside Taylor Elmore, Will Weiske, Jimmy Miller, Roy Lee and Richard P. Rubinstein. Jake Braver, Jill Killington, Owen King, Knate Lee and Stephen Welke serve as producers.
We’ve waited along time to see this adaption from Boone and Cavell (about six years!) and with the premiere date announcement, a teaser trailer or sneak peek shouldn’t be too far off, maybe by the end of September?
The Stand stars James Marsden, Alexander Skarsgård, Amber Heard, Odessa Young, Whoopi Goldberg, Henry Zaga, Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Brad William Henke, Daniel Sunjata, Nat Wolff, Greg Kinnear, Heather Graham, Eion Bailey, Katherine McNamara, Hamish Linklater and Natalie Martinez.
