Deadline is exclusively reporting that Frank Grillo, Melissa Leo, Josh Hartnett and William Forsythe will lead the ensemble of the crime action-thriller Ida Red, which had been filming in Oklahoma during the pandemic.
Ida Red focuses on career criminal Ida ‘Red’ Walker, who is battling a terminal illness while serving a twenty-five-year prison sentence in Oklahoma. Under Ida’s tutelage, her son, Wyatt Walker, has sustained the family business alongside his uncle, Dallas Walker. When a job goes awry, local detective and Wyatt’s brother-in-law, Bodie Collier, is joined by FBI agent Lawrence Twilley, to track down the responsible party.
Melissa Leo (whose credits include The Equalizer 2 and I Know This Much Is True) will be playing the role of Ida ‘Red’ Walker, Frank Grillo (whose credits include Black and Blue and Billions) will be playing the role of Dallas Walker, Josh Hartnett (whose credits include Paradise Lost and Die Hart) will be playing the role of Wyatt Walker, and William Forsythe (whose credits include A Perfect Plan and The Man In The High Castle) will be playing the role of Lawrence Twilley. Also starring in the film are Sofia Hublitz, Deborah Ann Woll, Mark Boone Junior, Beau Knapp, Slaine (playing the role of Bodie Collier) and Nicholas Cirillo.
The film, written and directed by John Swab, is wrapping production in around Tulsa, Oklahoma, and in the report it’s sated that it’s “closely following Oklahoma and SAG-AFTRA health and safety COVID-19 protocols”. Ida Red is produced and cast by Jeremy M. Rosen, alongside Swab and Robert Ogden Barnum for Roxwell Films. Luke Taylor, Matthew Helderman, Viviana Zarragoitia, Ali Jazayeri, Howard Scott and Joelle Scott serve as executive producers.
