Variety is exclusively reporting that the previously announced Power spinoff series focusing on Joseph Sikora’s Tommy Egan is being pushed forward at Starz, now being titled Power Book IV: Force, ahead of the planned Larenz Tate spinoff series.
The series will focus on Tommy Egan, after he cutes ties and puts New York in his rearview mirror for good, heading to the West Coast.
Starz President of Programming, Christina Davis, released a statement saying:
Power has been one of the most successful series in premium pay television during its six-year run, garnering more than 10 million multiplatform views in its last two seasons and we can’t wait to take fans in a whole new direction as we pick-up Tommy’s story with Power Book IV: Force.
The news today doesn’t come as too much of a surprise as the spinoff series was announced earlier in the year in February as one of four in development and greenlit by Starz already, but what makes the news today interesting is that the series has a chapter change, as it was once titled Power Book V: Force. So the Book IV: Influence spinoff, focusing on Larenz Tate’s slippery politician Rashad Tate, is put on the backburner in order to develop the project further and will become Power Book V: Influence.
The official series order commitment comes ahead of the debut of Power Book II: Ghost, which will premiere on the 6th September 2020, with the other spinoff, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, being scheduled to premiere next Autumn 2021, with Power Book IV: Force now being set to premiere following Raising Kanan.
Robert Munic will serve as showrunner on the series and executive produce alongside Courtney Kemp, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, Mark Canton, Chris Salek, Danielle DeJesus, Shana Stein and Bart Wenrich.
