The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Jamie Foxx is in negotiations with Sony Pictures to reprise the role of Electro for the upcoming third Spider-Man installment, made along with Marvel Studios and starring Tom Holland.
Jon Watts, the director of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home, is returning the the directors chair for the third installment, and it’s expected that Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori, to name a few, will be returning as well as production is currently scheduled to commence this autumn in Atlanta. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal will be producing the film.
Jamie Foxx portrayed the villain back in 2014 in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Since teaming up after The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the Sony/Marvel Studios films have earned over $1.9billion worldwide at the box office. While I’m still trying to come to terms with this story being true, it makes me think (and I’m sure many others) that this next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to be exploring and embracing the multiverse, especially with the upcoming WandaVision series and the Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness film.
