Warner Bros. have released the official trailer for the film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches, which was originally set for cinematic release this month in the U.S but will now be moved onto the HBO Max streaming service.
The official synopsis for the film is as follows:
Reimagining Dahl’s beloved story for a modern audience, Zemeckis’s visually innovative film tells the darkly humorous and heartwarming tale of a young orphaned boy who, in late 1967, goes to live with his loving Grandma in the rural Alabama town of Demopolis. As the boy and his grandmother encounter some deceptively glamorous but thoroughly diabolical witches, she wisely whisks our young hero away to an opulent seaside resort. Regrettably, they arrive at precisely the same time that the world’s Grand High Witch has gathered her fellow cronies from around the globe—undercover—to carry out her nefarious plans.
The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis and stars Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci, Jahzir Kadeem Bruno, Chris Rock, Kristin Chenoweth, Codie-Lei Eastick, Charles Edwards, Morgana Robinson, Eugenia Caruso, Simon Manyonda and Amber Flanagan.
While The Witches is currently scheduled for cinematic release in the UK and Ireland for the 28th October 2020, the film will now become available on HBO Max in the US from the 22nd October 2020.
