Deadline is exclusively reporting that Sydney Sweeney has signed up to star in the upcoming crime drama Silver Star.
The film will tell the story of an unlikely couple: Buddy, a twenty-year-old fresh out of jail, and Franny, a pregnant nineteen-year-old. After his botched robbery attempt at a bank that foreclosed on Buddy’s childhood home, he abducts her, triggering an unexpected journey together.
While Sydney Sweeney (whose credits include Euphoria and Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood) has been cast as Franny, the casting search for the male lead is still ongoing.
Ruben Amar, who will be directing the project, released a statement saying:
Sydney is an extraordinary actress who brings nuance and subtlety to each character she embodies. Her talent will allow her to metamorphose, with grace and talent into the very complex multifaceted Franny.
Ruben Amar will serve as producer under his Les Films de la Fusée banner alongside Lola Bessis, Virginie Lacombe of Virginie Films and Jamin O’Brien of The Community. Filming is currently scheduled to commence production in the U.S in early 2021.
