Ted Lasso: Comedy Series Gets Early Third Season Renewal At Apple TV+

Media outlets are reporting that Apple have given an early third season renewal for its breakout hit comedy series Ted Lasso, which hasn’t even begun production yet for its second season.

The series is based on the character Jason Sudeikis portrayed in NBC Sports videos that were promoting Premier League coverage on the network. We follow Ted Lasso, a small-time college football coach from Kansas, who is hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, AFC Richmond, despite having no experience coaching soccer.

The series from Jason Sudeikis and Bill Lawrence has been the number one comedy on the streamer across fifty countries, including the US, UK, Germany, France, Canada, Japan and Russia to name a few. It has also broken other records on the streaming service, ranking as the number one comedy each week and drawing in 25% new viewers to the streamer since its premiered back on the 14th August.

So it looks like Apple are going all on on Ted Lasso and I for one welcome it as the series has the perfect amount of light-hearted comedy and ensemble of characters for everyone to enjoy that isn’t particularly interest in football. The second season is scheduled to commence production in January 2021.

Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis, Stephen Manas, Colin Blyth, Brendan Hunt, Hannah Waddingham, Bronson Webb, Lampros Kalfuntzos, Phil Dunster, Brett Goldstein, Bradley Wj Miller, Jade Mitchell, Juno Temple, Jeremy Swift and Nick Mohammed.
