Deadline is reporting that a fourth instalment in the Has Fallen action franchise, Night Has Fallen, is in development with Gerard Butler set to return as Mike Banning.
The franchise, which started with Olympus Has Fallen back in 2013, primarily follows Mike Banning, a former Army Ranger who worked as a protective agent for the Secret Service. The first film seen him trapped inside the White House during a terrorist attack and must save the President and those kidnapped. The sequel, 2016’s London Has Fallen, Banning attended the funeral of the Prime Minister with the President and is caught up in a plot to assassinate all world leaders attending the funeral. The third instalment, 2019’s Angel Has Fallen, Banning is framed for the attempted assassination of the President and must evade the Secret Service and the FBI in order to clear his name and find the real threat.
The franchise has currently earned more than $520m at the worldwide box office. The plot for Night Has Fallen is currently being kept under wraps.
