Deadline is exclusively reporting that Marnee Carpenter, Jayne Atkinson, Shawn Doyle and Tim Guinee are the latest names to join the cast of CBS’ Silence of the Lambs sequel series Clarice.
Clarice will be set in 1993, a year after the events of The Silence of the Lambs. The series will be a deep dive into the untold personal story of Clarice Starling, as she returns to the field to pursue serial murderers and sexual predators while navigating the high stakes political world of Washington, D.C.
Marnee Carpenter (whose credits include Criminal Minds and Good Girls) has been cast as a series regular, playing the role of Catherine Martin, who was saved from Buffalo Bill’s basement by Clarice. Jayne Atkinson (whose credits include House of Cards and Criminal Minds) will be playing the role of Ruth Martin, the newly appointed attorney general and Catherine’s mother. Shawn Doyle (whose credits include The Expanse and The Comey Rule) will be playing the role of Clarice’s therapist at Quantico, and Tim Guinee (whose credits include 99 Homes and Homeland) will be playing the role of Novak, the leader of a secessionist militia group.
The series will be executive produced by Alex Kurtzman, Jenny Lumet and Heather Kadin.
The new additions will join a cast that includes Rebecca Breeds, Lucca De Oliveira, Devyn A. Tyler, Kal Penn, Nick Sandow and Michael Cudlitz.
