Deadline is exclusively reporting that Luis Guzmán, Jona Xiao, Charline St. Charles and Dominic L. Santana have signed up to join the cast of Starz drama series Hightown for the upcoming second season.
The series, set against the backdrop of the opioid epidemic in Cape Cod, follows Jackie Quiñones, a hard-partying National Marine Fisheries Service agent whose free-wheeling life is thrown into disarray when she discovers a body on the beach, leading her to take steps to becoming sober, while also becoming caught up in what turns out to be a murder investigation.
Luis Guzmán (whose credits include Perpetual Grace, LTD and Godfather of Harlem) will be playing the role of Frankie’s cousin Jorge Cuevas, a charming and hilarious yet dangerous sociopath. Jona Xiao (whose credits include Being Mary Jane and Gifted) will be the role of Daisy, a stripper at Xavier. Bubbly and working class with a hard edge, Daisy’s got swag and can handle herself. Charline St. Charles (whose credits include Den of Thieves and The Resident) will be playing the role of Henriette, a first generation Haitian-American and the wife of Sargent Alan Saintille. Dominic L. Santana (whose credits include All Eyez On Me and Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G) will be playing the role of Chuleta, Jorge and Frankie’s muscle.
Production on the second season is currently underway, with series creator Rebecca Cutter, who released a statement saying:
I’m so in love with this cast and the way they brought my vision to life in Season One. Now I feel inspired to create in a whole new way, through directing. I will be learning from some of the best in the business – Rachel Morrison and Monica Raymund — and I can’t wait to showcase Cape Cod in a new light as we focus on the off-season. We are thrilled to be back in production and bringing you the next chapter in this story.
The new additions will join a cast that includes Monica Raymund, James Badge Dale, Riley Voelkel, Shane Harper, Amaury Nolasco, Atkins Estimond and Dohn Norwood.
