Deadline is exclusively reporting that 20th Century Studios are moving forward with a new Predator film as Dan Trechtenberg has signed up to direct, with the script being written by Patrick Aison.
The report states that the story is being kept under wraps at the moment, though a source tells them that it won’t be tie-in with the last instalment, 2018’s The Predator, which was directed by Shane Black.
The 2018 film wasn’t received well amongst critics and fans, earning a total of $160.5m at the worldwide box office on its $88m budget. While I like Dan Trachtenberg’s last film 10 Cloverfield Lane (he also directed an episode of Black Mirror and the pilot of The Boys), I wouldn’t mind if the Predator property sat on the shelf for a while until the studio had a long-term plan on what to do with it, as the last film had way too many ideas being poured into it that it was a disjointed mess.
