Deadline is exclusively reporting that Oscar Isaac has signed up to play Solid Snake in Sony Pictures film adaptation of popular video game property Metal Gear Solid, with Jordan Vogt-Roberts attached to direct.
The video game series, first launched in 1987, initially focused on Solid Snake, a special forces operative who goes on missions no one else can handle.
The video game series has long been commended and acclaimed for its storytelling, particularly on how it made the medium feel cinematic. The other characters the video game series focuses on are Big Boss and Venom Snake.
The film is based on the video game created by Hideo Kojima and published by Konami, with the screenplay being written by Derek Connolly. Avi Arad is serving as producer on the project, while Peter Kang is overseeing the project for the studio.
