President of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy announced at the Disney Investors Day presentation today there will be two spinoff series of The Mandalorian, one of which focuses on Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano.
Debuting in the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano was the Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, then appearing as a lead character in the Clone Wars animated series and also appeared in Star Wars Rebels, with the character voiced by Ashley Eckstein.
Ahsoka Tano made her live-action debut this year in the second season of The Mandalorian, with Rosario Dawson portraying the character and given the reception of the episode, the names that were dropped during that episode, and the fact that Ahsoka Tano is a fan favourite, it seemed a given that the character would be getting their own series.
Ahsoka is being written by Dave Filoni, who will also serve as executive producer alongside Jon Favreau.
