President of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, announced at the Disney Investors Day presentation that the upcoming spy thriller series Star Wars: Andor will premiere on the Disney+ in 2022.
The series is set to follow the adventures of rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion prior to events of Rogue One. The spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.
Tony Gilroy has written the script for the pilot episode of the upcoming series, as well as be on hand to direct multiple episodes, with Stephen Schiff serving as showrunner. A sizzle reel was also released to investors as well as showcased to viewers online, as the series is currently a few weeks into production in London.
Star Wars: Andor stars Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Soller.
