President of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, announced at the Disney Investors Day presentation that a Lando Calrissian series is in development at Disney+, which is being created by Justin Simien.
Star Wars: Lando will focus on the fan favourite scoundrel who made a career as a gambler, con artist, playboy and smuggler, before he gradually became a general in the Rebel Alliance, leading the attack on the second Death Star.
With the exception of the announcement of it being in development, not much else was revealed about it, whether it would be following Billy Dee Williams’ portrayal of the character before or after we seen his return in The Rise of Skywalker, or whether it will focus on Donald Glover’s portrayal of the character before or after his appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story….or maybe they’ll cast someone new for the role entirely.
Justin Simien is the writer creator of the Dear White People film and television series, as well as writer and director of this years horror comedy Bad Hair.
