Deadline is exclusively reporting that Lionsgate are in final negotiations with Amazon to sell some of the international rights for its action comedy Shotgun Wedding starring Jennifer Lopez and Armie Hammer.
The film follows Darcy and Tom, who gather their lovable but very opinionated families for the ultimate destination wedding just as the couple begin to get cold feet. And if that wasn’t enough of a threat to the celebration, suddenly everyone’s lives are in danger when the entire party is taken hostage.
The report states that Amazon look set to acquire the rights for UK/Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Australia/New Zealand, Canada, Benelux and Latin America. The report also states that Lionsgate look set to finalise the rights with some foreign buyers, including Leonine in Germany and Nordisk in Scandinavia, whilst negotiations in most Asian markets are still ongoing.
The screenplay is written by Mark Hammer and Liz Meriwether, with Jason Moore attached to direct. Mandeville’s Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman will serve as producers on the project alongside Nuyorican Productions’ Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina. Alex Young will be overseeing production on the project, as well as serving as executive producer alongside Courtney Baxter, Ryan Reynolds and George Dewey.
Production for Shotgun Wedding is scheduled to commence early next year.
