President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, announced at the Disney Investors Day presentation that a Ironheart series is in development for Disney+, with Dominique Thorne cast in the lead role of Riri Williams.
First appearing in Marvel Comics in 2015, Riri Williams is a teenage genius who builds her own version of the Iron Man suit and takes on the name of Ironheart, before taking over Tony Stark as Iron Man for a period of time. The character was created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato.
Dominique Thorne’s credits include If Beale Street Could Talk and Judas and the Black Messiah. Bar the announcement, not much else detail was given in regards to who was developing the project moving forward or when the series will appear on the streaming service.
