Variety is reporting that She’s All That star Rachael Leigh Cook is the latest name to join the cast of the upcoming remake titled He’s All That.
The reimagined plot will be from a teenage girl’s perspective, with this new version following an influencer, Padgett Sawyer, who decides to avenge herself by accepting a challenge to turn the school’s biggest loser, Cameron Kweller, into prom king after her boyfriend turns her into a laughing stock.
The films social media accounts released an image online of Rachael Leigh Cook alongside Addison Rae, as Cook (whose other credits include Love, Guaranteed and Perception) will be playing the role of Padgett’s wise and caring mother.
Mark Waters (Mean Girls and Freaky Firday) is directing, with R. Lee Fleming, writer of the 1999 film, writing the screenplay. Fleming reunites with She’s All That producers Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay, who also worked on the 1999 films development, and now will produce the upcoming version.
Rachael Leigh Cook joins a cast that includes stars Addison Rae, Tanner Buchanan, Madison Pettis, Peyton Meyer, Isabella Crovetti, Annie Jacob, Myra Molloy and Kourtney Kardashian.
