Deadline is reporting that Cary Elwes is the latest name to join the cast of Guy Ritchie’s spy thriller Five Eyes.
The film follows a MI6 guns-and-steel agent who is recruited by global intelligence alliance ‘Five Eyes’ to track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology that threatens to disrupt the world order. Reluctantly paired with CIA high-tech expert, Fortune sets off on a globe-trotting mission where he will have to use all of his charm, ingenuity and stealth to track down and infiltrate billionaire arms broker.
Cary Elwes (whose recent credits include Stranger Things and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) will be playing the role of Nathan Jasmine, the overseer of Statham’s mission.
The film is written by Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies, with revisions by Guy Ritchie, who will also serve as producer on the project. Ivan Atkinson will also serve as producer alongside Bill Block for Miramax. Miramax will be financing and producing the project with STXfilms, who is handling worldwide distribution and sales.
The film will commence shooting in Turkey and Qatar this month. Cary Elwes joins a cast that includes Jason Statham and Aubrey Plaza.
