The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that May Calamawy will be starring opposite Oscar Isaac for the upcoming Marvel series Moon Knight at Disney+.
Introduced to Marvel comic fans back 1975, created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, Moon Knight focuses on Marc Spector, a mercenary who’s left for dead in the Egyptian desert and saved by the moon god Khonshu. Even as Marc returns home and becomes a costumed crime-fighter, the series will explore whether he’s truly empowered by Khonshu or simply insane.
The report doesn’t state what role May Calamawy (whose credits include Ramy and The Long Road Home) will be playing in the series and Disney have declined to comment.
Jeremy Slater, who developed and wrote Netflix’s adaptation of the comic book property The Umbrella Academy, has been attached to develop the project and lead the writing team for the Marvel series.
The series is being directed by Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.
