Deadline is reporting that Hugh Grant is in negotiations to join the cast of Guy Ritchie’s spy thriller formerly known as Five Eyes.
The film follows a MI6 guns-and-steel agent who is recruited by global intelligence alliance ‘Five Eyes’ to track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology that threatens to disrupt the world order. Reluctantly paired with CIA high-tech expert, Fortune sets off on a globe-trotting mission where he will have to use all of his charm, ingenuity and stealth to track down and infiltrate billionaire arms broker.
It’s unclear if Hugh Grant (whose recent credits include The Gentlemen and The Undoing) signs what role he could be playing in the film.
The film is written by Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies, with revisions by Guy Ritchie, who will also serve as producer on the project. Ivan Atkinson will also serve as producer alongside Bill Block for Miramax. Miramax will be financing and producing the project with STXfilms, who is handling worldwide distribution and sales.
Hugh Grant could join a cast that includes Jason Statham, Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes and Josh Hartnett.
