Deadline is reporting that Legendary and Netflix are developing an anime series or Tomb Raider, based on Square Enix’s video game reboot trilogy.
The anime series will focus on the iconic heroine Lara Croft twenty-five years after the video game reboot trilogy, as she explores new territory.
Tomb Raider has become a global franchise expanding over many mediums, from merchandise to comic books and films. There’s been two iterations of Lara Croft on the big screen, with Angelina Jolie portraying the character in 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and the sequel Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life in 2003, and Alicia Vikander then took over the role in the 2018 Tomb Raider reboot, with a sequel currently in development.
The series is being written by Tasha Huo, who will also serve as executive producer with dj2 Entertanment Founder and CEO Dmitri M. Johnson, Stephan Bugaj, Howard Bliss and Jacob Robinson.
