Deadline is reporting that Josh Duhamel has officially signed up to star opposite Jennifer Lopez in Lionsgate’s upcoming action comedy Shotgun Wedding, with Jennifer Coolidge and Sonia Braga also joining the cast.
The film follows Darcy and Tom, who gather their lovable but very opinionated families for the ultimate destination wedding just as the couple begin to get cold feet. And if that wasn’t enough of a threat to the celebration, suddenly everyone’s lives are in danger when the entire party is taken hostage.
Josh Duhamel had been in talks to join the cast for the last few weeks following the departure of Armie Hammer from the project. Jennifer Coolidge (whose recent credits include Like A Boss and Promising Young Woman) and Sonia Braga (whose credits include Wonder and Bacurau) will be playing the respective mothers of Duhamel and Lopez’s characters.
The screenplay is written by Mark Hammer and Liz Meriwether, with Jason Moore attached to direct. Mandeville’s Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman will serve as producers on the project alongside Nuyorican Productions’ Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina. Alex Young will be overseeing production on the project, as well as serving as executive producer alongside Courtney Baxter, Ryan Reynolds and George Dewey.
