Deadline is exclusively reporting that Gareth Evans has signed an exclusive deal with Netflix to produce and direct films for the studios, with the first being action thriller Havoc starring Tom Hardy.
The story of the film is set after a drug deal gone wrong, a bruised detective must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, while unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city.
The deal between Evans and Netflix has been in the works for some time, but they both wanted to make sure that Hardy was locked in on the project before going public with the deal. Evans directorial features include The Raid films, and Apostle, with the latter being under Netflix, as well as creating the action-crime series Gangs of London, which was released last year.
Gareth will be writing and directing this film, as well as produce under the One More One Productions alongside Tom Hardy, Ed Talfan for Severn Screen and Aram Tertzakian for XYZ Films.
