Deadline is exclusively reporting that Edgar Wright is set to develop and direct a film adaptation of Stephen King’s futuristic novel The Running Man at Paramount Pictures.
The Running Man novel, written by King under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, where in 2025 the United States finds itself in economic run and violence dramatically escalating.
The novel was loosely adapted into a film in 1987, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, but the report states that the upcoming adaptation will be more faithful to the source material. Edgar Wright will also be co-writing the story with Michael Bacall, with Simon Kinberg serving as producer under the Genre Films banner alongside Audrey Chon and Nira Park of Complete Fiction.
