Deadline is reporting that Sony Pictures Television are developing a series adaptation of the video game franchise Twisted Metal, with Michael Jonathan Smith writing on an original take from Rhett Reese and Paul Wenick, and Will Arnett attached to executive produce.
The action comedy follows a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.
The first video debut back in 1995 for the PlayStation, spawning multiple sequels and spinoffs. Sony Pictures Pictures Television are developing the project with PlayStation Productions, with Will Arnett executive producing under his production banner Electric Avenue, along with Marc Forman and Peter Principato of Artists First, Michael Jonathan Smith, Rhett Reese, Paul Wenick, Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.
