The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Maribel Verdú is the latest name to join the cast for the upcoming DC film The Flash, while Billy Crudup has exited the project due to scheduling conflicts.
While the logline for the film hasn’t been officially revealed yet, but it is known that it will involve alternate dimensions and time travel with Barry Allen trying to save his mother from being murdered.
Maribel Verdú (whose credits include Y Tu Mama Tambien and Pan’s Labyrinth) will be playing the role of Barry Allen’s mother, Nora Allen, while Billy Crudup has had to drop out of reprising the role of Barry’s father, Henry Allen, due to production on the second season of Apple drama series The Morning Show taking place during production of The Flash. The report states that the role will now be recast.
The screenplay is written by Christina Hodson, with Andy Muschietti set to direct. Maribel Verdú will join a cast that includes Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle and Kiersey Clemons.
The Flash is currently scheduled for cinematic release on the 3rd June 2022.
