Deadline is exclusively reporting that Netflix have acquired the worldwide rights for Miramax’s He’s All That, the reimagining of the 1999 teen comedy She’s All That.
The reimagined plot is told from a teenage girl’s perspective, with this new version following an influencer, Padgett Sawyer, who decides to avenge herself by accepting a challenge to turn the school’s biggest loser, Cameron Kweller, into prom king after her boyfriend turns her into a laughing stock.
The report states that Netflix acquired the film for a sum of $20m. The film is directed by Mark Water, with the original screenwriter of She’s All That, R. Lee Fleming, penning the screenplay here, as all as producing alongside She’s All That producers Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay.
Netflix look set to release the film globally later in the year.
