Deadline is exclusively reporting that Laurence O’Fuarain is the latest name to join the cast for the upcoming The Witcher prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin at Netflix.
Set in an elven world twelve-thousand-years before the world of The Witcher, Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time…the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal ‘conjunction of the spheres’, when the worlds of monsters, men and elves merged to become one.
Laurence O’Fuarain (whose credits include Rebellion and Black 47) will be playing the role of Fjall. Born into a clan of warriors sworn to protect a King, Fjall carries a deep scar within, the death of a loved one who fell in battle trying to save him. A scar that won’t let him settle, or make peace with himself or the world around him. In his quest for redemption, Fjall will find himself fighting beside the most unlikely of allies as he carves a path of vengeance across a continent in turmoil.
The six episode limited series is one of two offshoots from The Witcher, with the other being an animated spinoff (The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf) focusing on the origin story of Geralt’s mentor and fellow Witcher Vesemir.
Declan de Barra will serve as executive producer and showrunner of the prequel series, with the creator of The Witcher mothership series, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, serving as executive producer. Andrzej Sapkowski, author of The Witcher novel series that the show is based on, will serve as creative consultant. Jason Brown and Sean Daniel from Hivemind, and Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko from Platige Films also serve as executive producers.
Laurence O’Fuarain will star alongside Jodie Turner-Smith.
