Murder At Emigrant Gulch: Isaiah Mustafa, Gabriel Byrne And Thomas Jane To Star In Western Thriller

Deadline is exclusively reporting that Isaiah Mustafa, Gabriel Byrne and Thomas Jane are set to star in Richard Gray’s western thriller Murder at Emigrant Gulch.

Set in 1882, the film will follow a former slave who arrives in Emigrant Gulch, Montana, a desolate former boomtown now on the decline, looking for a place to call home. On that same day, a local prospector discovers gold – and is murdered. The sheriff arrests the town newcomer. But as the mystery of the prospector’s murder deepens, and the town’s earnest preacher questions the accused man’s guilt, a clash between faith and the law threatens to tear the town apart.

Isaiah Mustafa (whose credits include It: Chapter Two and Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments) will be playing the role of the former slave, Gabriel Byrne (whose credits include Lost Girls and War of the Worlds) will be playing the role of the town sheriff, and Thomas Jane (whose credits include The Expanse and Anti-Life) will be playing the role of the preacher.

Richard Gray is helming the project, with the script written by Eric Belgau. Gray will also be producing the project under the Yellow Brick Films banner alongside Anjul Nigam of Brittany House Pictures, Kelly Frazier of f8 Films, Robert Menzies of Zed Films and Lisa Wolofsky. Thomas Jane will serve as executive producer alongside Courtney Lauren Penn under their banner Renegade Entertainment, alongside Carter Boehm.

Murder at Emigrant Gulch is being eyed to commence shooting on location in Montana this May.
