Black Adam: Uli Latukefu Joins Cast For DC Film At New Line

Deadline is exclusively reporting that Uli Latukedu is the latest name to join the cast for the New Line/DC film Black Adam.

.

Black Adam originated in DC Comics as a corrupted, ancient Egyptian predecessor of Captain Marvel/Shazam, who fought his way to modern times to challenge the hero and the Shazam Family. In recent times in the comics however, Black Adam has evolved into a more complex and conflicted antihero, with his origins tied to the fictional Middle Eastern kingdom of Kahndaq.

.

The report states that Uli Latukedu’s role is currently being kept under wraps, as well as mentioning that it’s not clear whether or not he’ll be playing a younger version of Black Adam. That would be a nice little nod I suppose in the film, as Latukedu currently portrays a young Dwayne Johnson in the television series Young Rock.

.

Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani wrote the latest draft of the screenplay, with the previous written by Adam Sztykiel. Jaume Collet-Serra is attached to direct, Dwayne Johnson will be producing alongside Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia under their Seven Bucks Productions banner, as well as Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. Scott Sheldon of FlynnPictureCo will also serve as executive producer.

.

Uli Latukedu will be joining a cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Noah CentineoAldis HodgeSarah ShahiQuintessa SwindellMarwan KenzariPierce Brosnan and James Cusati-Moyer.

.

Black Adam is currently scheduled for cinematic release on the 29th July 2022.
