Creator Robert Kirkman and star Steven Yeun, appeared together on a video via social media today, confirming the news that the adult animated superhero series Invincible, based on the comic series of the same name, has been renewed for two more seasons at Amazon.
The official synopsis for the series is as follows:
Invincible is an Amazon Original series based on the groundbreaking comic book from Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead. The story revolves around 17-year-old Mark Grayson, who’s just like every other guy his age — except his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man.
The news comes ahead of the season one finale dropping on Amazon Prime tomorrow. Robert Kirkman released a statement about the renewal, saying:
I’m extremely thankful to Amazon for the support and dedication they’ve put behind Invincible. The comic book is truly a love letter to a genre that Cory and I grew up reading and loving, and it’s been a gratifying journey to watch our characters come to life again through the animated series. We’re beyond excited to continue this story for at least two more seasons.
The series has been a big hit for Amazon, both critically and with amongst the shows growing fanbase with each passing episode. The first season has a voice cast that also includes J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Zachary Quinto, Gillian Jacobs, Jason Mantzoukas, Malese Jow, Grey Griffin, Khary Payton, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beetz, Ross Marquand, Walton Goggins, Chris Diamantopoulos, Mahershala Ali, Kevin Michael Richardson, Michael Dorn, Ezra Miller, Jeffrey Donovan, Fred Tatasciore, Lennie James, Lauren Cohan, Sonequa Martin-Green, Chad L.
