Deadline is exclusively reporting that original star John Boyega and original writer/director Joe Cornish will be reuniting a decade on of the release of sci-fi cult film Attack The Block to start work on the sequel.
.
The official synopsis of the original film is as follow:
Attack The Block is a fast, funny, frightening action adventure movie that pits a teen street gang against an invasion of savage alien monsters. It turns a London housing project into a sci-fi battleground, the low-income apartment complex into a fortress under siege. And it turns a crazy mix of tough street kids into a team of kick ass heroes. It’s inner city versus outer space and it’s going to explode.
.
The report states that the plot for the sequel is currently being kept under wraps. Not only will John Boyega be reprising the role of Moses, he will also be producing alongside Joe Cornish, Nira Park and James Wilson.
.
John Boyega released a statement saying:
It’s been a decade since Attack The Block was released and so much has changed since then. I’m excited to see this heightened story return to the streets of London. Moses has remained one of my favourite characters to play and bringing him back is a huge honour.
.
Joe Cornish released a statement adding:
I’m thrilled we’re officially announcing our return to the world of Attack The Block on the tenth anniversary of the film’s release. I can’t wait to work alongside John again, bringing audiences an even bigger slice of inner-city alien action.
.
Studiocanal, Film4, Complete Fiction Pictures and UpperRoom Productions are developing the sequel.
