The Marsh King’s Daughter: Brooklynn Prince, Gil Birmingham And Caren Pistorius Join Cast For Psychological Thriller

Variety is exclusively reporting that Brooklynn Prince, Gil Birmingham and Caren Pistorius are the latest names to join the cast for the film adaptation of Karen Dionne’s novel The Marsh King’s Daughter.

The film will focus on Helena, a woman living a seemingly ordinary life, but hiding a dark secret: her father is the infamous ‘Marsh King’, the man who kept her and her mother captive in the wilderness for years. After a lifetime of trying to escape her past, Helena is forced to face her demons when her father unexpectedly escapes from prison.

The report doesn’t state what roles the trio will be playing in the film. Dionne’s novel is being adapted for the big screen by Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith, with Neil Burger directing. Black Bear Pictures’ Teddy Schwarzman, Anonymous Content’s Keith Redmon and Mark L. Smith will serve as producers on the project.

The film is being developed by Black Bear Pictures, Anonymous Content and STX, who acquired the U.S rights. Principal photography on the project is scheduled to commence this week in Canada.

The new additions will star alongside Daisy Ridley and Ben Mendelsohn.
