Dexter: John Lithgow To Return As Trinity Killer For Revival Series

Deadline is exclusively reporting that John Lithgow looks set to make a brief, but decisive, appearance in the upcoming revival series of Dexter, reprising the role of Arthur Mitchell aka the Trinity Killer.

.

The original series followed Dexter Morgan, who leads a double life as a forensic analyst and blood-splatter expert at the Miami Metro Police Department as well as being a serial killer who only kills criminals that slip through the criminal justice system. The revival series picks up ten years after Dexter Morgan went missing the eye of Hurricane Laura, now living in Upstate New York.

.

The report states that the creative team behind the revival have managed to create a way for the Trinity Killer to come back that works within the larger Dexter narrative, with Lithgow expected to film for a day or so on production, with his scene (or scenes) likely to be shot in the next week or so. Lithgow earned an Emmy-award for his portrayal of Arthur Mitchell in the series fourth season, arguably not only one of the best seasons of the series, but the last great one the show had in its eight season run.

.

Clyde Phillips, the original series showrunner, returns as showrunner for the revival series, with Michael C. Hall also starring and executive producing the series alongside Phillips, John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro and Scott Reynolds.
