The Last Of Us: Anna Torv Joins Cast For Series Adaptation At HBO

Deadline is reporting that Anna Torv is the latest name of HBO’s series adaptation of the popular video game franchise The Last Of Us.

The Last Of Us is set twenty years after modern civilisation has been destroyed by a sickness that renders victims dangerous, blood-thirsty mutants. Hardened survivor Joel is hired to smuggle Ellie, a fourteen-year-old girl out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, breathtaking journey as the unlikely duo depends on each other for survival.

Anna Torv (whose credits include Fringe and Mindhunter) will be playing the role of Tess, a smuggler and hardened survivor in a post-pandemic world. In the video game, Tess works with Joel to survive and smuggle weapons in and out of Boston, and also accompanies Joel on the seemingly impossible mission to smuggle Ellie to the Fireflies.

The series is being written by Chernobyl limited series creator Craig Mazin, and will also serve as executive producer alongside Neil Druckmann, writer and creative director of the video game franchise, and Kantemir Balagov will direct the pilot. Also executive producing are Carolyn Strauss, Naughty Dog president Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions, and Rose Lam.
