Jane: Madelaine Petsch, Melissa Leo, Chlöe Bailey, Ian Owens, Chloe Yu, Kerri Medders And Nina Bloomgarden To Star In Psychological Thriller

Deadline is reporting that Madelaine Petsch, Melissa Leo, Chlöe Bailey, Ian Owens, Chloe Yu, Kerri Medders and Nina Bloomgarden have signed up to star in psychological thriller Jane, the debut film from next-generation content studios and distribution platform, Creator+.

.

The film focuses on Olivia, a seemingly perfect High School senior, who struggles with grief from the recent loss of a friend. When Olivia gets deferred from her dream college, she begins to spiral and experiences a series of increasingly frightening panic attacks. In an attempt to regain some sense of control, she embarks on a social media-fuelled rampage against those that stand in the way of success. But as things escalate, she is forced to confront – and ultimately embrace – her darkest impulses, in order to get ahead.

.

Madelaine Petsch, who will also serve as producer on the project, released a statement saying:

Mental wellness and anxiety issues for the young adults are more prevalent than ever. Jane resonated with me because it grapples with the perils of those uncomfortable and often taboo topics.

Sabrina Jaglom, who will be making her directorial debut on the project, also released a statement saying:

Complicated female characters of this age are rarely featured at the centre of their own stories, free of the whims of adults or their male counterparts. Furthermore, mental health concerns are so rarely taken seriously in young adults, particularly high functioning ones. I hope this film sparks conversations around these topics while treating the viewer to a dark, thrilling ride.

.

Adam Wescott, Creator+ Head of Content Studio, added:

Creator+ is reimagining how stories are developed and told through the eyes of Gen Z. We’re thrilled to partner with Madelaine who perfectly blends the worlds of traditional entertainment with a large online presence to tell great stories.

.

The script is written by Jaglom and Rishi Rajani, with Petsch producing alongside Debbie Liebling, Creator+ Head of Production Nick Phillips, and Adam Wescott. Production on Jane will commence at the end of July in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
